Lead Developer (Java)

Location: Charlottesville, VA

Description:
6 mo. contract-to-hire.

An experienced lead Java web developer with the ability to lead architecture and development of a large, multi-year project. This is a hands-on developer role, with team-lead components.

Primary Skills:

- At least 3-5 years of Java web development experience (using POJO’s)
- Experience with Java frameworks and libraries (Spring, Struts, Hibernate)
- Experience with Agile development processes
- Experience with project management and build automation tools (Maven)
- Experience in a continuous integration environment preferred
- Experience with database development (Oracle preferred)

Requirements:

- Excellent communication skills and a team-player
- Strong grasp of opensource frameworks and leading web technologies
- Thorough understanding the of the development process in an agile environment
- Strong software development experience with ability to lead development team

Responsibilities:

- Actively lead development and architecture of web-based Java project

- Lead team of developers in an agile development practices with a focus on quality of output and the development process

- Implement or manage implementation of project support and decision tools

- Communicate with business analysts, software testers, clients, and project managers

- Maintain build environment and manage implementation of project support
